At least 91 people have been killed in two attacks in Norway: a bomb blast that went off near a government building housing the prime minister's office in Oslo, followed by a shooting incident at a youth camp near the city. The explosion in the Norwegian capital, which took place at 3:20pm local time, blew out most of the windows of a 17-storey building housing Jens Stoltenberg's office in the city centre. It also damaged nearby ministries, including the finance and oil ministry, which was on fire. The bomb killed at least seven people and left up to 15 others injured. ေနာ္ေဝမွာ ၇ ဦးေသတဲ့ ဗံုးခြဲမႈနဲ႔ ၈၄ ေယာက္ေသတဲ့ အစုလိုက္အၿပံဳလိုက္ လူသတ္မႈအတြက္ တရာခံအျဖစ္ သံသယရွိသူ ေနာ္ေဝႏိုင္ငံသား အသက္ ၃၂ ႏွစ္အရြယ္ Anders Behring Breivik ကိုေတာ့ ဖမ္းထားပါၿပီ။ သူဟာ ခရစ္ယာန္ အေျခခံဝါဒီ ျဖစ္ၿပီး လက္ယာအုပ္စုနဲ႔ အဆက္အသြယ္ရွိတယ္လို႔ ဆိုပါတယ္။

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi gives video message to U.S. Congress

Today was the first time that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was able to address the U.S. Congress.

Earlier this afternoon the U.S. House Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific held a hearing entitled “Piercing Burma’s Veil of Secrecy: The Truth Behind the Sham Election and the Difficult Road Ahead.”

“Professor Quintana has spoken of the need for a commission of inquiry into human rights violations in Burma. I support his call for such a commission, making it quite clear that a commission of inquiry is not tribunal. It is simply a commission of inquiry to find out what human rights violations have taken place and what we can do to ensure that such violations do not take place in the future. I would appreciate everything that is done to help Professor Quintana in his work. Because, unless we respect the work of the Human Rights Rapporteur, I do not think we will be able to make much progress towards the implementation of the resolution of the United Nations Human Rights Council.”

Hello Everyone,

You, your family and friends are warmly invited to attend a very
special birthday event to honor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi - Nobel Peace
Laureate, former political prisoner, and nonviolent pro-democracy
leader of Burma, next Saturday, June 18th.

Daw Suu spent more than 15 years in detention until she was released
on November 13, 2010 and for the very first time in more than seven
years, she will be spending her birthday FREE! This inspirational and
celebratory event is uniquely planned not only to celebrate her 66th
birthday, but to also present an exclusive experience to get to know
"The Lady" at a personal level.

long-term pro-democracy activist, and close friend of Daw Suu
- Poetry readings in Burmese and English
- Sharing of personal experiences and stories by former political
prisoners and friends of Daw Suu
- Video of selected Daw Suu speeches in Burmese and English
- Closing remarks from Elaine Pearson, Deputy Director of Human Rights

- A 40-foot timeline of Daw Suu’s life
- Astounding and rare portraits of Daw Suu by various artists

community and concerned citizens of New York. The event is free and
open to the public. Traditional Burmese appetizers and refreshments
